Beverly Shelton (aka Grandma Beverly)

Board Member

Beverly Shelton is a retired truck driver and became a tireless child pedestrian safety and anti-distracted driving advocate after losing her 5-year old grandson, Zachary Michael Cruz, in Berkeley, CA on February 27, 2009 to a distracted driver. Zachary was attempting to cross the street with other children from his after-school program, as well as with adult supervision in a marked crosswalk. Beverly travels California as a speaker on pedestrian safety and coordinates the A-Z families initiative to support others who have lost loved ones.
