Alba Velasquez, MURP
Alba Velasquez is Healthy Neighborhood Market Network (HNMN) Program Director for the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, where she oversees the administrative and programmatic activities involved with HNMN, including program planning and evaluation, reporting, and technical assistance to storeowners.In her professional experience, Alba has worked towards creating more livable and healthy communities through participatory planning and advocating for change in the built environment. Alba has extensive experience working with youth in underserved communities and 5 years working with community organizations in Los Angeles County. For 3 years, she worked at National Health Foundation, where she oversaw their Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Program in South Los Angeles. Alba then led community wellness programs at Cedars-Sinai.
Alba received her Masters of Urban Regional Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles where she worked on various community mapping projects, including Cultivate Los Angeles, a comprehensive group report on urban agriculture in Los Angeles County. Alba received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
